Hey there! Hi there! Ho there!

Since this is a holiday weekend I have decided to keep things short and sweet and get to the good stuff right away. Next week I will be back with a new Vlog when I can promise to NOT look bloated from too many holiday meals. Well, maybe I can’t promise THAT but I will be here no matter what. Pinkie Swear!

Anyhoo—let’s do it!

  • Rock n Roll Half Marathon Brooklyn Announcement: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Brooklyn Half Marathon has been announced for next October (2015) and will begin at Barclay’s Center and finish in Prospect Park. All kinds of top notch musicians and bands will be playing along the route and that may be the one thing to get me excited about a run. So this means there is a half marathon taking place right in my backyard. I can walk there and walk home. So what I am really saying is—I am thinking of signing up for this half marathon even though I am crappiest runner in the word. Are any of you out there interested in joining me? Let me know and we will get a training schedule going on. Really! I mean it. Please think about signing up with me (pretty please!)
  • Fitbloggin NY Meet Up: This coming Saturday, December 6th at 2 pm will be the time and date for NYC (tri-state) area Fitbloggin’ peeps to get together. If you belong to the secret group on Facebook you know the place we are meeting. If you don’t but still want to join send me an e-mail and let’s chat.
  • Book vs. Movie “Bridget Jones’s Diary” If you want to try out a new podcast that is NOT Serial be sure to check out Book vs. Movie podcast where Margo P. (aka “She’s Nacho Mama”) and me will talk about Bridget Jones’s Diary. The drop date will be this Friday, December 5th in the evening and will be available on iTunes and Sticher. We are SO excited about this book and film and think it is perfect for the upcoming holiday season. In the meantime feel free to “like” our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter. (Namaste!)
  • Belly Dance DVD Giveaway: This week I am offering the Element DVD Belly Dance Workout as my giveaway with dance expert Jacqui Lalita. Check out the clip below to get an idea on what you can win.

More Information about the Element: Belly Dance DVD giveaway:

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – According to professional dancer and instructor Jacqui Lalita, “Belly dance has been hailed as the dance of longevity because it has so many healing benefits. It is thought to improve circulation, digestion, maintain healthy joints and a strong lower back. It’s a truly empowering practice that builds self-confidence, relieves stress and adds joy to our lives.” Lalita stars in the new “Element: Belly Dance” DVD coming to stores and Amazon for $14.98 (suggested retail price) beginning December 2, 2014 from Anchor Bay Entertainment. Lalita makes it easy for anyone to learn the basic steps right at home with the Foundation segment. She then links the steps together into two dance workouts. As with all Element DVDs, “Belly Dance” was filmed in a lush, tranquil location overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Belly Dance Foundation covers the most commonly used moves like belly circles, hip drops and undulations. The Slow and Sensual Belly Dance Toning program is 23- minutes of graceful linked steps and arm movements. Belly Dance Burn is more energetic 21-minute program made up of two fiery belly dance combinations and a playful drum solo. The programs are designed to appeal to women of all fitness and ability levels. They tone muscles and improve flexibility.

Jacqui Lalita teaches belly dancing workshops, dancer retreats and teacher training sessions all over the United States and the world including Egypt, Turkey and Bali, With over 13 years of teaching experience,  she began her study of Oriental dance at the Mid Eastern Dance Exchange in Miami later joining their faculty. She is originally from Rhode Island.

{Just a note—Anchor Bay Entertainment is not sponsoring this post and will ship the Belly Dance DVD directly to the winner. This giveaway is only available in the Continental United States.}
