Stephen King Bonus Ep:”The Mist” Recap

Episode 7 “Over the River and Through the Woods”

Plus: The “Top 5 Stephen King Death Scenes”

It’s episode 7 of  Stephen King’s The Mist TV series and in this special bonus ep of the Book Vs. Movie podcast Margo D. and Deana of the Twisted Philly podcast offer their weekly recap of the Spike TV production plus, they choose their own “Top 5 Stephen King Death Scenes.”

This episode is titled “Over the River and Through the Woods” and it is seems everyone is about to hit their mental/emotional limit.

The podcast clip is at the bottom of this post but here are the basics of this week’s show:

The Hospital:

Kevin (Morgan Spector), Bryan (Ozekie Morro) and Adrian (Russell Posner) are now getting refuge in the psych ward which is surprisingly safe. Well, except for a certain resident there named Nash (Philip Ettinger)

Mia decides to tell Bryan that his real name is Jonah Dixon and that she is going on a quick detox. This requires him to strap her to a bed and witness her going through major withdrawals. She makes it through along with his help and they rejoin the group.

Adrian shares a room with Tyler (Christopher Gray) who has a Tom Hardy mouth. Tyler shares an awful story about sexually assaulting a kid from school then snuggles next to Adrian in his bed.

Adrian is then kidnapped by Nash who explains that because he can “see” things others cannot–Adrian is evil deep down and must be destroyed. Kevin convinces Nash to take him instead and then promptly beats the psych patient to death.

Kevin, Bryan/Jonah, Mia and Adrian leave the hospital. Tyler wants to stay behind knowing that he will most likely die there. (Major gay panic with this kid!)

The Mall:

Lots of tension at the mall over the lack of food available. (Why is that? Don’t they have a food court there?)

Alex (Gus Birney) now believes that there is no way that Jay (Luke Cosgrove) raped her and wants him to stay at their section of the mall. Eve  (Alyssa Sutherland) is not happy about this but Alex is being bratty and taking advantage of the situation.

Eve gets a baby monitor and plants it at the other end of the mall so they can keep tabs on the bigger group.

We find out that Gus (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.) is dealing with people who are becoming increasingly paranoid and delusional. Starting with the mall cop (Romaine Waite) getting ‘hangry” and wanting to explore for more food and then Shelley (Alexandra Ordorlis) trying to convince everyone that Alex is the cause of all of their problems and brought The Mist into the town.

The Church:

Nathalie (Frances Conroy) and Father Romanov (Dan Butler) are about to have an ecclesiastical showdown. It begins with Connor the cop (Darren Pettie) accusing Romanov of being a pedophile and then beating him about the face. Nathalie is sitting serenely as this is all happening.

Romanov offers a challenge to Nathalie. They both go out into The Mist and see who makes it back. Nathalie not only agrees to this preposterous idea but strips naked and marches right out there.

And guess what?  We get the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse! Seriously, they shoot an arrow through Romanov and then drag him away. (I may have giggled during this silly sequence.)

So Natalie is now our Christ-like figure. Where the hell is this show going? Please someone, tell me!
