Hey there! Hi there! Ho there!

I hope it is warmer by you because here in NYC I am fah-reezing!!!

Not kidding about that because my life is not like a Glen Frey song—the heat is NOT on in my apartment. (Oh ooh oh oh!)

So I am keeping this short and sweet today with my latest news, notes, tidbits plus, information about my newest giveaway–Women’s Health The Next Fitness Star DVD (three of you out there will win one!)

I have decided to cut back on my Vlog schedule as my life is getting very busy and I don’t want to affect the quality. (That sounds pretentious, huh? Sorry about that!)

With that in mind from now on I am publishing them every other week. So next Sunday you will see my face again. Promise!

  • Fit Bottomed Girls Pop Playlist: Many of you know that I am a certified fitness instructor who loves putting a good playlist together (believe me—I sweat over every single song choice!) This past week I posted on Fit Bottomed Girls my choices for a 30-Minute Pop Intervals Playlist which I hope you will enjoy.
  • Oh Hey—I Met Bob Harper! Also this past week on behalf of Fit Bottomed Girls I went to a special event for Daily Burn and guess who I met? BOB HARPER y’all!! Bob was at the CrossFit gym in midtown Manhattan promoting his newest program “Black Fire” which I plan to try out online soon. Wee! I was lucky enough to meet Bob afterwards and ask him his best advice for box jumps and more. You will need to check in with Fit Bottomed Girls to see when my article will run (or just check back here because you know will I will for sure post it.)  In the meantime—enjoy this hot photo I took of Bob.   • Women’s Health Magazine “Next Fitness Star” Emily Schromm: This week’s giveaway (that three of you out there will be lucky enough to win, by the way) is a workout DVD from this year’s winner of the Women’s Health—former Real World alum Emily Schromm. Emily was in the Washington DC season which I did not catch so I couldn’t ask her anything about it. Instead I was lucky enough to ask her questions about health and fitness which is what I really do care about. Here it is!

Brooklyn Fit Chick Interview with Trainer Emily Schromm:

Who are your fitness heroes?

My fitness heroes have always been those badass women who never took no for an answer: Michelle Akers and Mia Hamm, my soccer idols. And Jackie Joyner Kersee, one of the greatest runners of all time who never let asthma stop her. I love seeing people go after what they love to do. That is so heroic to me.

What is your quick “go to” workout when you are crunched for time?

My FAVORITE go-to hotel workout is pairing stair runs with squats! For 15 minutes, I run up the stairs, do 10 squats, jog/waddle back down. If there are no stairs, I set a timer and for one minute do burpees, one minute rest for 5-10 rounds total.  It doesn’t take long until you are in a sweat and those arms are burning.

What is your favorite post workout snack?

I love mixing my whey protein powder with coconut water immediately after a workout. It immediately starts replenishing those muscles to make them stronger, because that is what BURNS fat, and keeps me from feeling sore the next day which then means I can get after it again!

What is your next fitness goal?

My next fitness goal is to make Regionals for The CrossFit Games, to finish my book Bacon and Skinny Jeans, and to continue to help change people’s lives through proper nutrition and exercise.

Women’s Health Cover Star for January/February 2015: 

Stop the presses! It’s Britney Spears on the cover and looking as lovely as ever. The superstar is in the middle of a big Las Vegas contract with Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino (remember when Planet Hollywood was a thing?) and very busy taking care her growing boys Preston (9) and Jayden (8.)

To keep her truly amazing bod in shape Britney doesn’t feel the need to rely on pricey trainers or fad diets—she is rather self-motivated. At home Brit Brit has a full gym has a full gym at her disposal and she is quite disciplined in making herself do cardio & weights most days of the week.

On her “gym” days she is a big fan of Totally Drenched classes which is a combination of treadmill workout and circuit training and seems exhausting to me! Britney also swims laps and does power yoga when she can so let’s say she is NOT a slacker and move on.

  • “The Health Food That Isn’t?” We are all told to each more fish if we want to live longer but did you know that “fish fraud” is a thing? I really appreciated this feature!
  • “2015 It’s Gonna Rock” My 2014 was a big bucket of “meh” so I am taking these life hack lessons here by reporter Faye Penn to heart so I can see my mood improve.
