All About Eve

The Margos talk about one of the most famous fictional “Margos” in entertainment

The Margos are All About Eve in this Bette Davis-centered episode and considered us buckled up for this bumpy ride!

The story is based on actress/writer Mary Orr’s short story for Cosmopolitan magazine “The Wisdom of Eve” published in December 1946. It tells the tale of an actress (Margo Channing) who is threatened by a younger ingenue, Eve Harrington. At the time, people suspected it was secretly about the supposed rivalry on Broadway between Tallulah Bankhead and her understudy Lizabeth Scott. Orr claims it was actually about Martina Lawrence and Elizabeth Bergner. 

The story was bought by 20th Century Fox for $5000 and writer/director Joseph Mankiewicz created the script that would become the classic film that won six Academy Awards, fantastic performances, and a plethora of quotable lines that have lasted to this day.
